PATH FLOWERS









Nice drive from Sonsonate to Ahuachapán comprising 5 main destinations: Salcoatitán, Nahuizalco, Juayua, Apaneca and Ahuachapan.

All are places of outstanding natural beauty, enjoy a pleasant climate, fertile lands that show a colorful journey with the mixture of aromas in the area. On weekends you can enjoy the gastronomic fairs in different towns that make up this route where you will find exotic and delicious national and international dishes, or horse riding, carriages and a small train that runs through the city of Juayúa.

You can visit many traditions and culture activities as the development of wicker furniture and crafts, crafts made with Indigo, looms or a delicious coffee. A others in the area can perform activities such as rappel and canopy.


Nahuizalco

 Nahuizaldo is located 80 Km.  from San Salvador where People have a lot of Indian traditions . Its name in Nahuatl means "los 4 Izalcos" .  it  was founded by four families from the town of Izalco who used the Nahuatl language to communicate.


It is one of the strongest and oldest Indian groups from El Salvador, it was founded and habited by pipiles where you can still see some indigenous women in refajo (traditional dress, skirt tied at the hip which is secured at the waist by node) . The fabric to make  refajos can be purchased innworkshops  of Nahuizalco. Some residents of Nahuizalco  still speaking  Nahuatl as a fisrt language.

One of its attractions is the night market, located in the center of town, and it  is lit with candles. Here you can buy handicrafts and traditional items as well as food and drinks specific to the site; to others, most of the agricultural products grown in the cantons are placed on the market Nahuizalco. Two markets, one from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and another at 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM  here you can see the vendors with lit candles in their baskets are developed, which gives a nice show .

SALCOATITÁN
Its full name is QUETZALCOATLAN, in  Nahuatl language means "The City of Quetzalcoatl" (god of wind and star of the aurora). Salcoatitán is a small coffee town, whose main attractions are its colonial church, located opposite the picturesque central park and its gastronomic festival that takes place on Sundays, where you can taste variety of typical dishes.

It has a nice little colonial church dating from the early nineteenth century. It is build of calicanto, teja , roof tiles. It is dedicated to San Miguel Archangel, whose feast is celebrated in September 29 It also has a small train which gives a tour of the park, the church and its main streets



                                                                                                             
                                                           








JUAYUA

Its name in Nahuatl means "River of Purple Orchids" or "City of the Red Orchid". Juayúa has a pleasant climate, diversity of stories and legends, sites of outstanding natural beauty and a famous gastronomic festival that takes place every weekend in front of his church.

It has a real sculptural jewel; The Black Christ or Lord of Juayúa, carved in the late fifteenth century, which is similar to Esquipulas (Guatemala). According to tradition where today stands the high altar, there was a centennial Ceiba, "La Ceiba Pregnant" which was split by lightning and inside appeared crucified surrounded by orchids of San Sebastián.

One of its greatest natural attractions is the Los Chorros waterfall La Calera, 2 Km. From the city. The lagoon of Las Ranas is another beautiful landscape.

APANECA.

It is the Salvadoran town located at higher altitudes, occupying a scenic plateau between the hills of Apaneca and extinct volcanoes of Lagunita and green lagoon 1,477 M .S.N.M. This volcano is considered to be one of the highest peaks of the Sierra Apaneca, so no echo or Cunhtepec Laguna Verde means "seven hills"
The Cerro de Apaneca or Chichicastepec is located at a height of 1816.05 meters above sea level and due to its favorable geographical location and height, is the perfect match for you from the summit the Pacific Ocean can be seen creating this a stunning panoramic view, access is made by paths (roads) natural vegetation and surrounded by pine, cypress, wild flowers and sunflowers own Apaneca.

The Bosquecito is another attraction of the city of Apaneca and is located about 93 Km north of the town of Apaneca, presents variety of vegetation such as:. ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE SANTA LETICIA Located in the estate of the same name,
its most outstanding feature are 3 large sculptures dating back 25,000 years

Concepcion de ataco

Founded by Pipil tribes, it is 5 Km. of Apaneca, Ahuachapán direction.
In the Nahuatl language means "Place of high springs", this is a pre-Columbian population and was founded by Pipil Indians in the heart of the Sierra Apaneca.
Its most important economic activities are the cultivation of coffee, making handloom textiles and manufacture of religious imagery. There are still artisans looms one located in 2nd. Av. Sur Barrio el Centro.

Some of the crafts that can be found in Ataco are: The embroidery, carpentry, joinery, sheet metal and metalwork.
Their festivities are held from 11 to 15 December in honor of the patron saint Our Lady of Immaculate Conception.

POOLS OF Atzumpa: A 1 1/2 Km de Ataco on the Ruta de Las Flores.. There are swimming pools for children and adults. They have flexible hours and admission is free.
Cielito Lindo LA CRUZ: It is a viewpoint where you can admire the landscape and surroundings Ataco.

CROSS BOY: This viewpoint is 30 minutes from Ataco. It is located in Canton Los Naranjitos and from here and around Ahuachapán observed.
